The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a beautiful method of catechesis designed for the young child. It was born from the joy of the children in their encounter with God and lives in being nourished by this joy. The program is designed to facilitate an encounter between the child and God, using a prepared environment called an atrium and based on Jesus as the one True Teacher.
During a weekly catechism session, the child spends time on practical life exercises that develop their minds and bodies toward prayer, and in contemplating specific parables and themes from Scripture. The child and the catechist marvel together at the mystery of Christ and His Church, celebrating the liturgical seasons and following the child’s lead as they progress in a deeper love for Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
